FoodCycle, Yardley welcomes first volunteers

FoodCycle charity is a community run project to reduce food poverty and social isolation which is active all over the UK.

The new volunteers prepared a meal for the Hub Leaders and Father Roy Anetts. The training session enabled volunteers to become familiar with their surroundings and also to explore cooking with a variety of ingredients. They worked with
16kg  surplus food collected from the Hub Leaders homes.

Volunteers prepared tofu and rice noodle miso broth for starter, roasted Mediterranean vegetables with Moroccan spiced potato wedges main, and fruit salad that consisted of five different fruits for dessert.

Once the hub is up and running, a healthy and nutritious three course meal will be available for those in food poverty in Birmingham on a weekly basis. For more information on how to become a Hub Leader or volunteer for FoodCycle please click here.
